SWEAH's founder and coordinator, Professor Susanne Iwarsson, receives her second honorary doctorate, at the same time as Finnish President Stubb.

Iwarsson is being awarded an honorary doctorate at the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences, University of Jyväskylä, located in Central Finland. She is honored for "her groundbreaking research on the interaction between human functional capacity and the physical environment".

– I am so honored and proud of this fantastic award. Warm thanks to my colleagues at GEREC and the University of Jyväskylä. I look forward to the ceremonial doctoral conferment and festivities in May next year – in interesting and inspiring company, says Susanne Iwarsson.

The title of honorary doctor is conferred by a faculty upon a person who has contributed in a distinctive way to the university's activities in research and education. And whom the faculty wishes to honor and connect to its research community. Often, academics at other universities are awarded honorary doctors, but they can also be individuals outside the academic world.
