Norlin presented his research on ‘Older adults’ loneliness: Relationships, everyday strategies and design of support’ at Region Gävleborg’s collaboration conference ”Forskare och praktiker möts” (Researchers and practitioners meet) in Söderhamn on October 23.
At the same time the chairman of the (H)järnkoll initiative also presented their work with discussion groups for older adults. In his case, with a special focus on "older men".
– We had several important points of contact, and a lot of cross-fertilization of ideas and perspectives was created between us - which can only happen when research and practice are given the opportunity to meet. I am very grateful for this meeting between researchers and practitioners, says Jerry Norlin.

Jerry Norlin presented results from his research project Causes and Actions of Late-life Loneliness (CALL). The focus is on three sub-areas: the importance of social relationships for loneliness, what everyday activities and habits older adults use to manage loneliness, and what characteristics of interventions are effective in reducing loneliness among older adults.
For insight into (H)järnkoll's activities, you can watch the documentary "Gubbstrutsar" on SVT (in Swedish).
